Car passengers allege they were run into by Galveston school bus

GALVESTON —Two vehicle passengers are suing the Galveston school district, alleging their car was struck by a negligent school bus driver.

Erasmo Herrera and Mark Salinas filed a complaint March 12 on in Harris County District Court against Galveston Independent School District, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, on April 21, 2017, Herrera and Salinas were in a vehicle travleing westbound on Avenue S. and the defendant's driver, Jason Splane was driving a bus soutbound on 41st Street in Galveston. The suit says Splane failed to come to a halt at a stop sign and drove the bus into the plaintiffs' vehicle.

The suit says the plaintiffs' vehicle was damaged and they sustained injuries to their neck, back, shoulder and both suffered from headaches..

Herrera and Salinas seek a jury trial, damages of $200,000, plus costs of court and all other just relief. They are represented by attorneys Anthony G. Buzbee, Caroline E. Adams, Fernando R. Garza of The Buzbee Law Firm in Houston.
