Worker blames chemical plant's negligence for serious burns

HOUSTON — A Louisiana worker is suing refinery plant owners, alleging negligence caused her to be burnt over her body and face after an explosion.

Lindsey Simon filed a complaint Feb. 19 in Harris County Circuit Court against Lyondell Chemical Company, Lyondell Refining Company LLC, Houston Refining LP, Team Industrial Services Inc., Hydrochem LLC, Texas Stress Inc and TMR Company, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, Jan, 5, Simon was working at the defendants' refinery in Houston when the defendants' negligence caused an explosion. Simon says she suffered burns to her face, head, shoulders and other body parts. The suit says the plaintiff has also suffered emotional and mental distress.

Simon seeks trial by jury, damages in excess of $1 million, pre- and post-judgement interests, costs of court, attorneys fees and all just relief. She is represented by attorneys Kurt B. Arnold, J. Kyle Findley, Kala F. Seller and Adam D. Lewis of Arnold & Itkin LLP in Houston.
