BEAUMONT – A slip and fall lawsuit seeking up to $200,000 in damages has been brought against HEB Grocery.

Kara Perez filed the suit March 8 in Jefferson County District Court, alleging HEB negligently failed to warn her of the dangerous condition that allegedly caused her injuries.

According to her lawsuit, on April 18 Perez was shopping at the HEB off of Dowlen Road when “she slipped and fell in grease which was on the store floor in the area of the chicken rotisserie.”

“There were no mats or warning signs in the area to warn of the dangerous condition,” the suit states, adding that HEB should have known of the danger of customers falling in the food area.

Perez is suing for her alleged mental anguish, pain, impairment, lost earnings and medical expenses.

Beaumont attorney Jonathan Juhan represents her.

Judge Justin Sanderson, 60th District Court, has been assigned to the case.
