GALVESTON – The Estes Law Firm, P.C. in Richmond has filed a lawsuit against the County of Galveston and the State of Texas after a Michigan woman was reportedly injured almost two years ago while wading in the waters off a Galveston beach.
The 11-page suit’s petitioners, Christina and Eric Radcliffe, claim that Christina Radcliffe was wading near the shore of Beach Pocket Park 2 “when her leg was cut by a piece of metal rebar protruding from a piece of concrete that was submerged under the water.”
According to Galveston County 212th District Court filings dated Mar. 20, the piece of concrete and metal rebar “are the remnants of an old pier or platform that was either destroyed or removed.” The incident occurred before Hurricane Harvey, the complaint says.
The Radcliffes claim that there were no warning signs, and the City of Galveston wrote the plaintiffs to deny responsibility “for the maintenance of Beach Pocket Park 2.”
Consequently, they seek unspecified monetary damages.
