HOUSTON – The Bates Law Firm in San Antonio has filed a lawsuit on behalf of a Karnes County man who claims that he was a victim of a flash fire at a ConocoPhillips Co. production facility in adjacent DeWitt County, recent Harris County District Court records show.
Ernesto Miranda, Jr.’s suit, which was filed on Mar. 21 in the 129th District Court, lays responsibility for the July 27, 2018 incident on ConocoPhillips. Miranda recalls working under the mentorship of an employee of the defendant when attempting to re-pressurize a system.
“The system was not re-pressurized correctly which resulted in a flash fire,” the original petition says.
According to Miranda, he suffered severe burn injuries.
He seeks unspecified monetary damages and a jury trial.
