GALVESTON – A Tiki Island couple has pursued legal action in response to a late 2017 drunk driving accident which claimed the life of their 22-year-old son, recent Galveston County District Court records show.

Robert A. Swofford of the Swofford Law Firm, PLLC in Houston filed a lawsuit against Carrabba’s Italian Grill, Bar Louie, motorist Carlos Sanchez, and others on behalf of David and Emily Wrinkle in the 56th District Court on Mar. 21.

The 12-page original petition asserts that Sanchez is responsible for the death of Carson Wrinkle. The former had allegedly been drinking for more than six hours at two separate establishments – Carrabba’s and Bar Louie – prior to his collision with the younger Wrinkle on I-45 South.

Court papers accuse Carrabba’s and Bar Louie of serving Sanchez alcoholic beverages though he was already in an intoxicated state, as well as failing to stop him driving away in his vehicle.

Carson Wrinkle succumbed to his injuries at the accident scene. Authorities arrested and charged Sanchez with intoxicated manslaughter.

His parents seek unspecified monetary damages and a jury trial.
