HOUSTON – A fire at a west Houston shopping center more than a year ago has prompted a halal food retailer to pursue legal action, according to recent Harris County District Court records.

PAS2, LLC, doing business as PAS2 Supermarket Halal Store, blames neighboring business Nick’s Sports Bar and Grill for the Sept. 9, 2017 blaze in question in a lawsuit filed on Mar. 25 in the 270th District Court.

The 22-page complaint alleges that the fire erupted on the defendant’s property. Nick’s purportedly failed to prevent the spread of the fire after it started.

Court papers assert that the plaintiff’s business suffered “considerable” damage because of the subject incident, most notably smoke and water damage.

The store was shuttered for 140 days afterwards, the suit says.

PAS2 seeks unspecified monetary damages and a jury trial.

It is represented by the law firm Haun Mena, PLLC in Houston.
