GALVESTON — A Friendswood couple is suing a roofing company, alleging substandard work.

TD Contractors Inc, Antonio Denobrega and Arlette Denobrega filed a complaint March 25 in Galveston County District Court against Beacon Sales Acquisition Inc, Northwest Roof Tile & Metal LLC and Able's Construction Services LLC, alleging breach of contract, misrepresentations, negligence, unjust enrichment and exemplary damages.

According to the complaint, TD Contractors purchased nearly $40,000 worth of a new roof tile package from the defendant in January 2009 that was supposed to be installed at the Denobrega property, 1103 W. Edgewood Drive, Friendswood, by West End Lumber. West End Lumber Company Inc and West End Lumber merged with Beacon Sales Acquisition on Sept. 23, 2009, the suit says.

The plaintiffs say they had been given a 50-year warranty by the defendant for the roofing materials. However, in 2016, the Denobregas say they began to experience issues with the materials, including cracking and leaks. The plaintiffs say they asked the defendant to inspect the roof three separate times in 2016 and the defendant said that they would honor the 50-year warranty but has yet to do so.

The Denobregas seek actual damages of $40,000, attorney fees and court costs. They are represented by attorneys Christopher A. Gregg and Dick H. Gregg Jr. of Gregg & Gregg PC in Houston.
