SHERMAN — A Massachusetts man is suing the operator of a sea vessel, alleging that he was caused to slip and fall on steps due to negligence.

William Vuilleumier filed a complaint March 25 in the Sherman Division of the Eastern District of Texas against TDI-Brooks International Inc., alleging wrongful denial of maintenance and cure, unseaworthiness and negligence.

The suit says Vuilleumier, a Jones Act seaman, was working for the defendant on May 22, 2018, aboard the MV Brooks McCall. The lawsuit alleges TDI-Brooks failed to train or properly maintain the stairs where Vuilleumier fell due to no fault of his own.

The plaintiff says he suffered painful and disabling injuries and will continue to experience pain and mental anguish.

Vuilleumier seeks trial by jury, damages provided by law for injuries sustained and all other proper and just relief. He is represented by attorneys Michel P. Doyle, Jeffrey Avery and Patrick M. Dennis of Doyle LLP in Houston.
