HOUSTON — A Harris County man is suing his employer, alleging that he was discriminated against for being gay.

Dennis Billman filed a complaint March 26 in the Harris County District Court against AFGlobal Corporation, alleging gender discrimination, a hostile work environment and breach of contract.

The complaint states Billman had been employed by AFGlobal since May 23, 2011, and he was paid a salary, plus commission on sales. The plaintiff is gay and HIV positive.

The suit alleges Billman was repeatedly discriminated against due to his sexual orientation and medical condition and harassed in an effort to get him to quit. The plaintiff says he was also underpaid on his 2017 bonus.

According to the suit, AFGlobal has failed to remedy the reduction in income and has also restricted Billman's computer access.

Billmann seeks trial by jury, monetary relief between $200,000 and $1 million, damages, attorney fees, court costs and other equitable relief. He is represented by attorneys Todd Slobin and Sidd Rao of Shellist Lazarz Slobin LLP in Houston.
