HOUSTON – The Houston Country Club has been named in a wrongful death lawsuit alleging a worker perished as a result of injuries sustained on its premises.
Recent Harris County District Court records show that Leticia Tolentino, widow of the late Viktor Lainez and the representative of his estate, filed the suit April 5.
According to the complaint, Lainez was working at the country club in the city’s Tanglewood area Dec. 12, 2018. He was walking through the kitchen, the suit says, when he fell and hit his head on two pipes that were on the floor, the original petition says.
Lainez allegedly experienced a seizure after the fall, went into unconsciousness and was later discovered by a coworker. Lainez was taken to the hospital where he remained until he was removed from life support, the suit says.
His widow accuses the country club of failing to address the “exposed piping in a high-traffic, high-slip-trip-and-fall work area.”
She seeks unspecified monetary damages and a jury trial. She is represented by attorneys at Pierce Skabranek PLLC in Houston.
