HOUSTON — A Houston woman is suing a debt collection agency, alleging she was repeatedly called even after she requested that the calls stop.

Roxanne Grant filed a complaint April 12 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against The Swiss Colony, doing business as Direct Charge, alleging violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act.

According to the complaint, Direct Charge called Grant's cell phone, attempting to collect an alleged debt. The suit states Grant sent a message to the defendant via email and requested that the phone calls cease and that she only be contacted by mail.

However, the suit alleges, Direct Charge has continued bothering her through automated phone calls.

Grant seeks $500 for each violation of the TCPA, trial by jury and all just and proper relief. She is represented by attorney Jody B. Burton of Lemburg Law LLC in Wilton, Connecticut.
