Apartment tenant alleges she was harassed by constant calls from debt collection agency

HOUSTON — An apartment tenant is suing a debt collection agency, alleging she was called repeatedly after requesting that the calls stop.

Jenna M. Rodriguez filed a complaint April 30 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against I.Q. Data International Inc., alleging violations of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, the Telephone Consumer Protection Act and the Texas Debt Collection Act. 

Accoding to the complaint, Rodriguez was a tenant of the Kenswick Apartments in Humble and fell behind on her payments. The defendant allegedly began to attempt to collect the debt from the plaintiff and began to call her cellphone. The plaintiff said she requested that the calls cease but I.Q. Data has failed to heed the plaintiff's desires.

Rodriguez seeks injunctive relief, actual and punitive damages, attorney fees, court costs and other just and proper relief. She is represented by attorneys Alexander J. Taylor, Marwan R. Daher, Omar T. Sulaiman of Sulaiman Law Group Ltd. in Lombard, Illinois.
