Tenant blames Houston property management company for fall from balcony

HOUSTON — A tenant is suing a Houston property management company, alleging he fell from his second-floor apartment due to a faulty balcony railing.

Howard Scott filed a complaint April 30 in Harris County District Court against 29SC Ashley Park LP, doing business as The Edge @ City Centre, and Portico Property Management LLC, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, Scott was at the defendant's facility, 8410 West Bartell Drive, Houston on May, 5, 2018. The suit says Scott was walking to the balcony on the second floor of his apartment. As he was holdiing the balcony rail, the lawsuit alleges, the rail came off, causing Scott to fall two stories from the balcony.

The suit alleges Scott suffered severe bodily injuries due to The Edge's negligence to maintain the premesis in a reasonably safe condition. The plaintiff says he sustained pain and suffering, future impairment, disfigurement and mental anguish.

Scott seeks court costs, damages between $200,000 and $1 million and all just relief. He is represented by attorney Jesus A. Salinas of Daspit Law Firm in Houston.
