GALVESTON — A Galveston woman is suing a local restaurant, alleging she was injured after falling on the defendant's property.

Irma Serrata filed a complaint May 3 in the Galveston County District Court against Mario's Ristorante Inc., doing business as Mario's Ristorante, alleging liability and negligence.

According to the complaint, Serrata was a guest Mario's on 61st Street in Galveston on Feb. 20, 2015. The suit says Serrata fell on a greasy substance by the restroom, resulting in her suffering physical injuries including a fractured foot, pain, disfigurement and anxiety.

The plaintiff alleges Mario's failed to clean the greasy spot and failed to give fair warnings about the danger.

Serrata seeks damages between $200,000 and $1 million, exemplary damages, court costs and all other equitable relief. She is represented by attorney Matthew Quiroz of the Law Offices of Kelly T. Curran in Houston.
