JAG Clinical Research alleges client failed to pay for consulting services

HOUSTON – A Harris County clinical research company alleges a League City physician has failed to compensate it for studies it obtained for him.

JAG Clinical Research LLC filed a complaint on May 13 in the Harris County District Court against Bassem Boutros Maximos, M.D. alleging breach of contract and unjust enrichment.

The plaintiff alleges the defendant contacted it in January to ask for help in obtaining clinical trials. The plaintiff alleges it did so from January to March, totaling 304 hours of consulting services. The suit states according to an oral contract, JAG was to receive 40 percent of revenues from studies with Centex Studies, an entity the defendant previously worked with, and 50 percent of revenues from studies the plaintiff obtained.

The plaintiff alleges the defendant has received $100,000 in connection with the studies it facilitated and that the defendant has failed to compensate it.

The plaintiff is seeking relief between $200,000 and $1 million, attorneys' fees, trial by jury, actual and economic damages, court costs and other relief deemed fit. The plaintiff is represented by Joshua A. Verde and Andrew R. Young of The Verde Law Firm PLLC in Houston.
