BEAUMONT - Cody Dishon and Mark Sparks, both partners with Beaumont’s Ferguson Law Firm, recently obtained a substantial recovery for a worker injured is a serious workplace accident.
The settlement was reached during a weekend mediation on the eve of trial and was for a confidential amount well in excess of $1 million, according to a press release.
“This was a very tough case, both legally and factually,” Dishon said. “It was such a tough case that was first rejected by another local injury law firm, but we believed in our client and our case. We caught the company in several major lies, virtually destroying any credibility they may have had. We learned that the defendant ignored its legal duty to report this accident to OSHA.”

Dishon says he and Sparks make a great team and it was Spark’s expertise that helped obtain the result.
“It was a cold case when we got it, so we started behind the proverbial 8-ball,” Dishon said. “We are honored to have represented our client and make a difference. Our client will receive the medical care needed for the remainder of his life.”
Sparks believes that the “only thing that makes bad conduct worse is to be untruthful” about it.
“The defendant here was untruthful, hid documents and we proved it,” Sparks said. “Cody did a wonderful job of working this case up and, more importantly, we were able to represent our client and provide for his future medical needs.”
The Ferguson Law Firm continues to be nationally recognized for record-breaking recoveries including those made on behalf of workers involved in major workplace accidents. These include a recovery of $4.5 million dollars by managing partner, Paul ‘Chip’ Ferguson as well as another $2.3 million-dollar recovery for an injured worker at a timber facility.
Earlier this year, partner Jane S. Leger helped land a $2.94 million-dollar jury verdict for her clients in a Louisiana death case against Chevron Pipeline. Leger has also obtained an $18 million-dollar jury verdict in a plant explosion, ranking as 2017’s highest workplace verdict for the State of Texas.
Additionally, Ferguson and Dishon recovered a $4.8 million-dollar settlement in a workplace accident involving the misuse of a crane. The recovery ranked as one of the year’s highest workplace recoveries in 2018.
