LOCKE LORD LLP: Locke Lord Chair Emeritus Jerry Clements Named Chair of ‎‎Baylor University Board of Regents

Locke Lord issued the following announcement on May 30.

Locke Lord Chair Emeritus Jerry Clements has been named Chair of the Baylor University Board of Regents, effective June 1. She will be the first woman to serve as Chair of the Baylor Board. Clements, who served as Chair of Locke Lord from 2006-2017 and currently is a Partner of the Firm, has been a member of the Baylor Board since 2011 and most recently served as Vice Chair for Compliance and Regulatory Oversight.

During her tenure as Chair of Locke Lord, Clements spearheaded two major mergers that significantly expanded the Firm’s footprint in key strategic U.S. and international markets, and enhanced and strengthened its capabilities across a wide array of practice areas. Well-known and recognized for her almost 40 years of experience in the area of commercial litigation, Clements has received numerous honors for her legal and leadership achievements. She was named the 2015 Baylor Lawyer of the Year — the first woman to receive this honor — by the Baylor Law Alumni Association for her distinguished professional career and service to the community. She has been recognized as one of the Top 50 Most Influential Women Lawyers in the country by the National Law Journal, one of the 30 Extraordinary Women in Texas Law and a Lifetime Achievement Award honoree by Texas Lawyer, one of Texas’ Most Powerful Women by the Texas Diversity Council and among the Top Ten Litigators by the Dallas Business Journal.

Clements, whose one-year term concludes May 31, 2020, has served on the Baylor Board of Regents Select Governance Review and Selection Task Forces; and has also served on the Governance, Compensation and Nominating; Audit and Compliance; and University Development Committees.

Clements is a Fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers, a Member of the American Board of Trial Advocates, a Fellow in the International Society of Barristers, a Fellow in the Litigation Counsel of America and a Board Member of Business Counsel Inc.

She received her J.D., cum laude, from Baylor University School of Law and is a Lifetime Member of the Baylor Law Alumni Association as well as a Past President.
