Customer alleges Starbucks negligence led to fall over fallen fence

HOUSTON — A Harris County woman is suing a Starbucks, alleging she was injured when she tripped over a fallen fence around the patio area of a Starbucks store in Katy.

Sharon Ponder filed a complaint June 5 in Harris County District Court against Starbucks Corporation and R&D Properties Katy Mills LLC, alleging gross negligence.

According to the complaint, Ponder was a guest at the Starbucks, 1998 Katy Mills Blvd., Katy. The suit says Ponder fell when she encountered a partially fallen fence around the Starbucks patio, leading to severe injuries to her ribs, head, shoulder, ankle and wrist,

The plaintiff alleges the fence had not indicators, lights or warnings signs and Ponder had no way of knowing that a danger existed.

Ponder seeks trial by jury, interest, statutory damages, actual damages, interest and all just relief. She is represented by attorneys Thomas J. Henry and Dong Hee Choi of the Law Offices of Thomas J. Henry PLLC in Corpus Christi.
