GALVESTON —A Mexia couple is suing a real estate company, alleging they were victims of fraud after they had agreed to sell their home.

John William Jenson and Terry Jo Jenson filed a complaint June 11 in Galveston County District Court against Scott Allen McCellan, Rick Sparks, Natasha DeVore, Belinda O'Daniel, Networth Realty of Houston LLC, Networth Realty of Houston South LLC, Gold Coast Equity LLC, and ISB Capital LLC, alleging fraud and deceptive trade practices.

According to the complaint, the Jensons received a phone call from Sparks about a potential buyer for their home and the offer was presented by DeVore. The suit says the plaintiffs' home had suffered damages from Hurricane Harvey, and they were told that the defendants would make the repairs and have it ready for resale.

The defendants, however, immediately started to show the plaintiffs' property to third-party home buyers, the suit alleges, without making the repairs and then told the plaintiffs that they had to vacate their property within 30 days.

The plaintiffs say they had to borrow money to avoid delaying the closing and also pay off the remainder of their mortgage loan. The suit says they sustained lost profits and cost of repairs.

The Jensons seek between $200,000 and $1 million, attorney fees, court costs, interest and other just relief. They are represented by attorney Gerson D. Bloom of Galveston.
