Female dispatcher alleges gender discrimination, hostile workplace

HOUSTON — A female dispatcher is suing her employer, alleging she was terminated due to her gender.

Monica Garcia filed a complaint June 17 in Harris County District Court against Metro Ready Mix Limited Company, alleging gender discrimination, retaliation and a hostile work environment.

According to the complaint, Garcia was an employee of Metro Ready Mix from 2012 to 2018. The plaintiff said she was called into her the office of her manager, Chris Padrone, on July 3, 2018 and told she would be terminated as a male would be better suited for the job. The suit alleges Padrone said he would "not willing to entertain a female candidate." 

After returning from vacation, the suit says, Garcia was fired from her position July 14, 2018, by Mario Pacheco. alleging a male would be a better fit. Indeed, a male was hired for her position, the suit alleges. 

Garcia seeks monetary relief of more than $100,000, trial by jury, lost wages, compensatory damages, exemplary and punitive damages, attorney fees, costs of suit, interest and other all other just and proper relief. She is represented by attorneys Melissa Moore and Rochelle Owens of Moore & Associates in Houston.
