Employees allege Valero negligence led to explosion

HOUSTON — Three employees are suing Valero, alleging an explosion rendered them injured.

Hugo Rangel, Juan Reyes and Hugo Rodriguez filed a complaint July 11 in Harris County District Court against Valero Refining Texas LP, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, Rangel, Reyes and Rodriguez worked for Valero, On April 19, 2018, the suit alleges, a massive explosion at a Valero refinery in Texas City that could be heard 5 miles away injured the plaintiffs as they tried to run from the blast. 

The plaintiffs allegedly sustained orthopedic injuries and hearing loss.

The plaintiffs seek trial by jury, damages up to $100 million and all other just relief. They are represented by attorneys Anthony G. Buzbee, Andrew Dao and Ryan S. Pigg of The Buzbee Law Firm in Houston.
