HOUSTON — An employee is suing a Spring air conditioning business, alleging he lost part of his finger at a worksite.

Michael Geffert filed a complaint July 11 in the Harris County District Court against Little John's Refrigeration, also known as John's Little John's Interiors Inc., alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, on May 9, 2019 Geffert was told to take a picture of a wire and had to climb on the roof in the Houston heat. The plaintiff alleges he already had been working for 12 hours and was physically exhausted.

Geffert says he was also on the phone with the defendant's owner when his hand became caught in the air conditioning unit, severing the top of his finger and almost cutting off his thumb. The plaintiff alleges Little John's failed to provide a safe working environment and negligently trained its employees, which led to Geffert sustaining pain and suffering, mental anguish and medical expenses.

Geffert seeks between $200,000 and $1 million, court costs and all just relief. He is represented by attorneys Brian Merka and John Arthur Daspit of Daspit Law Firm in Houston.
