HOUSTON — A Harris County woman is suing the Houston Museum of Natural Science, alleging that she fell and sustained injuries due to a defective stool.

Lee T. Loe filed a complaint Aug. 13 in Harris County District Court against the Houston Museum of Natural Science and KORE Design LLC, alleging liability, negligence and proximate cause.

According to the complaint, on Aug. 14, 2017, Loe, then 88 years old, was a guest at the museum, 555 Hermann Park Drive, Houston, The suit states Loe was sitting on a chair designed by KORE. The top portion of the seat allegedly became detached and the plaintiff was caused to fall backward and strike the floor.

The lawsuit alleges Loe's wrist was broken in the fall as she tried to catch herself. The plaintiff had to be admitted to the Ben Taub Hospital emergency room following the fall and she was diagnosed with a broken wrist, deformity and swelling in the forearm, as well as hematoma, edema, tenderness and pain. The suit says much of the pain continues to linger.

Loe seeks between $200,000 and $1 million, interest and all just relief. She is represented by attorney Kang Chen of the Law Office of Kang Chen PLLC in Houston.
