Kentucky couple alleges energy companies' negligence led to explosion, injuries

HOUSTON — A Kentucky couple is suing a group of energy companies alleging, they were injured due to a massive pipeline explosion that occurred near their home.

Joanna Coulter and Denver Coulter filed a complaint Aug. 15 in Harris County District Court against Texas Eastern Transmission LP, Spectra Energy Transmission Resources LLC, Spectra Energy Transmission Services LLC, Spectra Energy Corp. and Enbridge (U.S.) Inc., alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the Coulters were severely injured Aug. 1, due to a gas leak and huge explosion that occurred near their Kentucky home. The suit states flames shot hundreds of feet into the air and the explosion was due to faulty pipelines that the defendants had failed to ensure were operating properly.

The plaintiffs allege they sustained painful injuries to their necks, backs, legs, legs, groins and painful burns.

The Coulters seek more than $1 million, trial by jury, attorney fees, court costs and all just relief. They are represented by attorneys Kurt Arnold, Kyle Findley, Kala Sellers and Adam D. Lewis of Arnold & Itkin in Houston.
