Customer alleges Home Depot employee dropped bag on foot, seeks $5M in damages

HOUSTON — A customer is suing Home Depot, alleging he was injured due to the negligence of an employee.

Miguel Vasquez filed a complaint Aug. 22 in Harris County District Court against Home Depot International Inc., alleging negligence and premises liability.

According to the complaint, Vasquez was shopping at the Home Depot, 11820 Dickson Road, Houston, on May 22. The suit alleges Vasquez was being helped by a Home Depot employee who was loading an 80-pound bag of concrete mix onto the plaintiff's cart. The defendant's employee allegedly dropped one of the bags on the plaintiff's foot, causing serious bodily injuries.

Vasquez seeks between $3 million and $5 million, attorney fees, court costs, interest and all just relief. He is represented by attorneys Chance A. McMillan and Matthew Mendoza of McMillan Firm PLLC in Houston.
