Valero Energy employee alleges he was shot by coworker

Lawsuits

HOUSTON — A Harris County man is suing Valero Energy, alleging he was shot by a negligent employee.

Loubnan Bou Akl filed a complaint Aug. 21 in Harris County District Court against CST Brands Inc., Valero Energy Corporation, Ana Inc., Assad N. Boulos and Najib Boulos, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, Akl was working as an employee of Valero Energy on May 6. The suit said Akl's co-worker incidentally shot the plaintiff in the leg, resulting in serious pain and permanent nerve damage. As a result, the suit argues, Akl has been unable to work.

The plaintiff alleges the employee had frequently been under the influence during work but the defendants took no corrective action and was permitted by Assad Boulos and Najib Boulos to have access to firearms.

Akl seems monetary relief of more than $1 million, trial by jury, attorney fees, court cost, interest and all just relief. He is represented by attorneys Cesar Tavares and Sean McCarthy of Williams Hart Boundas Easterby LLP in Houston.
