SHERMAN — An Allen woman is suing a debt collection agency alleging, harassment regarding an unpaid phone bill.
Janice M. Crowther filed a complaint Aug. 26 in the Sherman Division of the Eastern District of Texas against National Credit Services Inc., alleging violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and the Texas Debt Collection Practices Act
According to the complaint, Crowther had a cellphone plan and due to medical issues the plan was not paid on time. The suit alleges National Credit repeatedly began to call the plaintiff regarding the payment. Crowther says she has had at least 100 calls from the defendant, who is seeking to collect on a debt.
Crowther seeks $1,000 in additional damages, trial by jury, attorney fees, court costs, interest and all just relief. She is represented by attorneys Joseph S. Davidson and Mohammed O. Badwas of Sulaiman Law Group Ltd. in Lombard, Illinois.
