TYLER — A police officer for a school district is suing his employer, alleging that he was not paid proper overtime for the extra hours he worked.

Chad Wilhelm filed a complaint Aug. 28 in U.S. District Court Eastern District of Texas Smith County Division against Brownsboro Independent School District, alleging violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

According to the complaint, Wilhelm was hired as a police officer for the district Feb. 20, 2017, and while employed he was regularly worked more than 40 hours per week but was not paid for the actual time he worked as required by FLSA. The plaintiff said he tried to remedy the situation via phone, e-mail and text but the defendant never responded to his concerns.

Wilhelm seeks trial by jury, attorney fees, court costs, interest and all other just relief. He is represented by attorney Wade A. Forsman in Sulphur Springs.
