Chick-Fil-A sued by customer alleging she was burned by hot coffee due to an unsealed lid

HOUSTON —A customer is suing Chick-Fil-A alleging that she was burned by hot coffee due to an unsealed lid.

Rosavina Pratt filed a complaint on Aug. 27 in the Harris County District Court against Rusty Wylie ding business as Chick-Fil-A of Mason Road FSU alleging negligence

The plaintiff arrived at the defendant's property at 369 S Mason Road, Katy on Aug. 22, 2018 to purchase a large coffee. The plaintiff was handed her beverage through the drive-thru window and after being handed the coffee the lid came off and the cup collapsed, scorching the plaintiff with hot coffee on her thighs and lap. The plaintiff suffered burns as a result of the defendant's failure to ensure that the lid was securely closed.

The plaintiff is seeking $100,000 or less, attorneys' fees, court costs, interest and just relief. The plaintiff is represented by Jason B. Swanson in Houston.
