HOUSTON — A registered nurse is suing a medical center, alleging he was attacked by a psychotic patient.

Geno Chaoui filed a complaint Aug. 28 in Harris County District Court against Parallon Enterprises LLC, KPH Consolidation Inc., doing business as Kingwood Medical Center, and HCA Management Services LP, alleging negligence and liability.

According to the complaint, Chaoui was working as a registered nurse at Kingwood Medical Center on Nov. 24, 2018. The suit states the plaintiff was trying to prevent a psychotic patient from leaving the facility when he was attacked by the patient who punched Chaoui in the eyes, causing the plaintiff to fall into a wall and strike his head.

The plaintiff alleges he sustained neurological injuries. The suit states the medical facility was understaffed and failed to have a security officer present.

Chaoui seeks attorney fees, court costs, interest and all just relief. He is represented by attorney Marcus R. Spagnoletti of Spagnoletti Law Firm in Houston.
