Widow alleges building company's negligence led to husband's death

HOUSTON — The widow of a deceased construction site worker is suing a building company, alleging the defendant's negligence led to her husband's death.

JingJing Shi, individualy and as representative of the estate of Weiming Wang, deceased and as next friend of Y.B.W., a minor, filed a complaint Sept. 4 in Harris County District Court against Hwami Builder LLC and WBBC Company, alleging negligence and wrongful death.

According to the complaint Wang, was working on a site controlled by the defendants on May 22. The suit states Wang was unloading a scissor lift from a flatbed truck that was being used by the defendants when one of the ramp legs failed. The lawsuit alleges Wang fell 4 to 5 feet and sustained brain and spine injuries. After arriving at the hospital, the plaintiff died 18 hours later, the suit states.

Shi seeks more than $1 million, trial by jury, attorney fess, court costs, interest and all just relief. She is represented by attorney Benjamin R. Roberts of Benjamin Roberts Law PLLC in Houston.
