Maritime employee alleges negligence caused him to be thrown overboard

HOUSTON — A maritime employee is suing a dredge and dock company, alleging he was thrown overboard due to a negligent employee.

Saul Moreno filed a complaint Sept. 6 in Harris County District Court against Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Company LLC, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, Moreno was working for Great Lakes on the vessel the Anchor Barge on Aug. 18. The suit alleges Moreno was working to unlock a cable going to a pipe when another worker jerked on the cable and caused the plaintiff to be knocked overboard and fall directly on a tank.. 

The plaintiff alleges he was sucked underwater and had to be rescued by co-workers. The suit states the plaintiff sustained severe physical injuries  due to the fall and suffered loss of wages.

Moreno seeks trial by jury, judgment of more than $1 million, attorney fees, court costs, interest and all just relief. He is represented by attorneys Anthony G. Buzbee and Christopher J. Leavitt of The Buzbee Law Firm in Houston.
