Former employee accuses Harris County business of age discrimination in firing

HOUSTON — A Cypress man is suing his former employer, alleging he was terminated due to his age.

James Pyeatt filed a complaint Sept. 9 in Harris County District Court against Burrow Global Services LLC, alleging violation of the Texas Labor Code, discrimination and retaliation.

According to the complaint, Pyeatt worked for Burrow Global from March 14, 2014, until he was terminated Aug. 7, 2018. Pyeatt says he was 55 at the time of his termination and was constantly the subject of negative comments about his age. 

The plaintiff alleges he complained to the CEO about the treatment and was told that the issue would be investigated. The poor treatment allegedly continued until the plaintiff was eventually terminated,10 days after Pyeatt said he first reported age discrimination. The suit states operations manager Max Goodgame and executive vice president Jason Savoie told him he was being fired due to a reduction in the workforce.

Pyeatt seeks monetary relief between $200,000 and $1 million, back pay, front pay, reinstatement, trial by jury, attorney fees, court costs, interest and all just relief. He is represented by attorneys Todd Slobin and Dorian Vandenberg-Rodes of Shellist Lazarz Slobin in Houston.
