BEAUMONT – A recently filed benzene suit has named two dozen companies as defendants, a list that includes BP, Chevron, ExxonMobil and Texaco.

Norman and Mildred Reynolds filed the suit Sept. 30 in Jefferson County District Court.

According to the petition, Norman worked as an operator at Texas-U.S. Chemical in Port Neches from 1964 through 1974, where he was exposed to benzene.

As a result of his exposure, he developed Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.

The suit states Norman was unaware such exposure was hazardous to his health.

The plaintiffs are represented by attorney Darren Brown of the Provost Umphrey Law Firm.

Judge Justin Sanderson, 60th District Court, has been assigned to the case.

Case No. B-204625
