Dollar General customer alleges negligence after injuring knee on iron pipe

HOUSTON — A Houston man who suffered injuries to his leg from a 2-inch iron pipe sticking out of a shelf at a Houston Dollar General store is suing for negligence. 

In his suit filed Oct. 21 in Harris County District Court, Henry Taylor is alleging premises liability and negligence against Family Dollar Stores of Texas, LLC, Family Dollar Inc. and Dollar Tree Stores, Inc.

Taylor was at the Dollar General on West Orem Drive Houston on Oct. 29, 2017, when he injured his left knee on the iron pipe and sustained "a permanent dent in his shin," according to the suit. 

"The act and omissions of the defendant were the direct and proximate cause of the dangerous condition," Taylor alleges in his suit. "At the time of the incident, there were no warning signs or any other indicators that there was a dangerous condition."

Taylor seeks monetary relief of more than $200,000, trial by jury, exemplary damages, interest and costs of court. He is represented by attonrey Jonathan Cox of The Cox Pradia Law Firm, PLLC
