Surestay Hotel employee injured while moving exercise equipment alleges negligence

HOUSTON — A Surestay Plus Hotel employee who was injured while moving heavy exercise equipment filed suit Oct. 21 in Harris County District Court, alleging negligence. 

Lorena Martinez named defendant R K Brothers Inc,. doing business as Surestay Plus Hotel.

According to the complaint, on Oct. 27, 2017, Martinez suffered serious bodily injuries "as a direct result of an incident proximately caused by the negligence of the defendant." Martinez also alleges Surestay failed to properly train its employees to "avoid unreasonable risk of harm," failed to provide "proper and safe equipment" and did not have "adequate" or "reasonably competent" employees to help with her job activities. 

Martinez seeks damages, interest, plus special, legal and equitable relief. She is represented by attorney Jonathan Perkinson of Adley Law Firm LTD LLP in Houston.
