HOUSTON — Cam Field Solutions is facing a lawsuit filed by a former welding inspector alleging that he was misclassified as an exempt employee and not paid for his overtime work.

Randy Weathers filed a collective action on Oct. 28 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Cam Field Solutions LLC, alleging violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). Weathers' lawsuit claims that while working on testing pipelines, pipeline coating and Cam Field's facilities from April 2019 to July 2019, he was only paid a day rate as a non-exempt employee and was not compensated for working over 40 hours per week.

"The defendant does not pay its inspectors overtime because it pays the same flat day rate regardless of the number of hours worked," the plaintiff alleges in the suit. "No exemption in the FLSA shelters the defendant from paying overtime to its inspectors."

Weathers seeks monetary relief, trial by jury and all other just relief. He is represented by Beatriz Sosa-Morris and John Neuman of the Sosa-Morris Neuman Law Firm PLLC in Houston.
