HOUSTON — The Aldine Independent School District faces a discrimination suit from a female African-American employee who alleges discrimination and retaliation due to her disability and race.

Celeste Glover of Houston filed a complaint Nov. 19 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Aldine Independent School District (ISD) alleging violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990.

According to the suit, Glover works as a parts room manager for Aldine ISD and on Jan. 10, 2018, she filed a complaint with her employer stating a male coworker made intimidating and harassing remarks about her race. The suit states she also filed a complaint Feb. 21, 2019, with her union and alleges the harassment continues, despite the coworker's short-term suspension and her transfer to another department.

The plaintiff also alleges she has faced retaliatory measures, including having her hours cut and now suffers from a disability, PTSD, severe stress, depression and anxiety. Glover says she received a right to sue notice from the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission on Aug. 20.

Glover seeks monetary relief, trial by jury, interest and all other just and proper relief. She is represented by attorney Trenton Sims of Calhoun, Meredith & Sims PLLC in Houston.
