BEAUMONT – Before a jury could be selected, a lawsuit brought over an automobile collision settled before trial.

Seeking up to $100,ooo in damages, Lee Elliot filed suit against Nora Fuentes on July 28, 2017 in Jefferson County District Court.

According to the original petition, on Dec. 18, 2015, Elliot was driving down Crockett Street when Fuentes allegedly failed to yield the right of way at a stop sign on South 6th Street, pulling out in the path of Elliot’s vehicle.

The lawsuit was set to go to trial on Dec. 9 but settled beforehand, according to a courthouse official.

Elliot was seeking damages for mental anguish, medical expenses, impairment and pain.

She is represented by Beaumont attorney Scott Browne.

Judge Mitch Templeton, 172nd District Court, presided over the case.
