Former Webster rehab center employee alleges injuries while trying to assist patients

HOUSTON — A Webster rehabilitation center faces a negligence claim by a former employee who allegedly was injured while trying to assist patients. 

Christin Wilkerson filed a complaint  Dec. 10 in Harris County District Court against Penbar Inc., Regency Village Skilled & Rehab Center, Barcelo Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and others, alleging negligence. 

According to the complaint, Wilkerson 38 at the time, was working at Regency on Dec. 31, 2017, when she suffered severe and extensive injuries while attempting to assist patients. Wilkerson alleges she has suffered mental and physical pain, impairment and loss of earnings due to her injuries. 

The plaintiff alleges Regency was negligent in properly training and supervising employees, implementing and enforcing "reasonable restrictions" and in providing tools for employees to safely complete their tasks. 

Wilkerson seeks monetary relief of more than $1 million, interest, costs of court and all other just relief. She is represented by attorney Jefferey Todd of The Todd Law Group PLLC in Houston.
