Woman claims she received illegal debt collection calls from Dish Network

TEXARKANA — A Texas woman is claiming she received debt collection calls from Dish Network on her cell phone in violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA). 

Angela McKay filed a complaint Dec. 19 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas Texarkana Division against Dish Network LLC alleging violation of the TCPA.

McKay alleges in her complaint that she received "repeated calls" from Dish Network to her cellphone regarding her alleged debt. McKay claims she requested the automated and/or prerecorded calls to stop, however she continued to receive the calls.

McKay seeks monetary relief of $500 per violation in statutory damages and $1,500 per violation in treble damages, trial by jury and all other just relief. She is represented by Amy Bennecoff Ginsburg of Kimmel & Silverman PC in Ambler, Pennsylvania.
