HOUSTON — A man is suing his Houston apartment complex after he and his grandson were bitten by bedbugs.
Benjamin Benabides and Anna Castillo obo K.A., filed a complaint Dec. 23 in the Harris Count District Court against The Villas at Pine Lake doing business as Vickery Parc Apartments frequently known as Villas at Pine Lake and others alleging negligence, violation of the Deceptive Trade Pratices Act (DTPA) and breach of contract.
Benabides was residing at the Villas at Pine Lake in Houston and alleges in March of 2018, he and his grandson K.A., began to develop itching and red marks. He claims his apartment and his neighbors' units were infested with bed bugs. He alleges the Villas failed to clean the unit prior to his renting or disclose the bedbug infestation.
Benabides seeks monetary relief, interest and all other just relief. He is represented by Tad Rice of The Rice Law Firm in The Woodlands.
