HOUSTON — Memorial Herman Health is facing a suit by a former employee who claims she was fired while on medical leave.

Gwendolyn Duplechain filed a complaint Dec. 31 in the Harris County District Court against Memorial Herman Health System alleging breach of contract.

Duplechain worked in Memorial Herman's call center and took medical leave on Dec. 8, 2016. Her physician certified her to miss work from Aug. 22, 2017 through Aug. 22, 2018. She then received extended leave through Dec. 15, 2017 and alleges before she could return to work, she received a notice stating her job would be terminated Jan. 16, 2018. Duplechain claims Memorial Herman breached her employment agreement by firing her while on medical leave.

Duplechain seeks monetary relief, trial by jury and all other just relief. She is represented by Timothy Williams of The Pro Se Legal Studies Institute Inc., in Houston.
