GALVESTON — A Texas man claims he received illegal debt collection calls on his cell phone from Collecto.

Albert Reyes filed a complaint Jan. 17 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas Galveston Division against Collecto Inc., doing business as EOS CCA  alleging violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) and Texas Debt Collection Act (TDCA).

Reyes alleges in his complaint that he began to receive calls on his cell phone from Collecto in October 2019 regarding his defaulted telecommunications bill. He claims that despite explaining his inability to pay the debt and asking Collecto to stop calling, he continued to receive no less than 40 calls.

Reyes seeks monetary, injunctive and all other just relief. He is represented by Nathan Volheim, Taxiarchis Hatzidimitriadis, Eric Coleman and Alexandro Figueroa of The Sulaiman Law Group LTD in Lombard, Illinois.
