RICHMOND — A Fort Bend County couple claim the seller of the home they purchased covered up property damage, including high levels of mold that has made the home uninhabitable.

Scott and Kim Taylor filed a complaint Jan. 15 in the Fort Bend County District Court against Kim Ortiz alleging fraud/fraudulent inducement.

The Taylors purchased a residence in Fort Bend from Ortiz on Aug. 20, 2019 for $599,900. They allege that once they moved into the property they discovered the residence had water intrusion, rotting wood and high levels of mold that caused them to have to vacate the property. The Taylors claim Ortiz failed to disclose the property's defects and had done repairs to cover up the defects.

The Taylors seek monetary relief, trial by jury, interest and all other just relief. They are represented by David Showalter of The Showalter Law Firm in Richmond.
