GALVESTON — A Houston contractor is facing a complaint alleging he abandoned a construction job and left building code deficiencies after being paid $17,000.

Richard Caudillo filed a complaint Feb. 18 in the Galveston County District Court against Kodiak Contractors Inc., and others alleging deceptive trade practices, fraud and breach of contract.

Caudillo entered into a contract with Kodiak for a repair and restoration project on Oct. 17, 2017 and paid Kodiak $8,500. He alleges he paid Kodiak an additional $8,500 after the work started and on Sept. 25, 2018, Kodiak abandoned the project. Caudillo also claims he received a notice of deficiencies from the City of Houston's Building Code Enforcement.

Caudillo seeks monetary relief between $100,000 and $200,000, interest and all other just relief. He is represented by Ben Raia of Ben J. Raia & Associates PLLC in Friendswood.
