HOUSTON — The estate of man who died two days after being discharged from CHI St Luke's Health Baylor College of Medicine alleges negligence.

Isabel Martinez, individually and as representative of the Estate of Gonzalo Martinez, Daniel Martinez and others filed a complaint  Feb. 24 in the Harris County District Court against CHI St. Luke's Health Baylor College of Medicine Medical Center and others alleging negligence.

Gonzalo Martinez was first seen at CHI St. Luke's on Jan. 26, 2018 due to blood in his stool and was discharged. He then returned to the hospital the next day and had to be intubated and given 20 units of blood, plasma and platelets. On Jan. 28, physicians attempted to stop his bleeding with a GI procedure, however he died several hours later. The plaintiffs claim the hospital staff failed to timely assess his condition.

The plaintiffs seek monetary relief exceeding $1 million, interest, trial by jury and all other just relief. They are represented by Mark Weycer and Che Williamson of The Weycer Law Firm PC in Bellaire.
