RICHMOND — The estate of a man who fell through the ceiling of a residence while attempting to fix a water heater is claiming the homeowners' negligence.

Gail Castille, individually and as representative of the Estate of Darryl Wayne Reece filed a complaint Feb. 27 in the Fort Bend County District Court against Nath Panda and Shanti Panda alleging negligence.

The defendants hired Darryl Reece to make repairs on the water heater at their home in Katy on Sept. 22, 2019. Castille alleges that while working at the defendant's property, Reece fell through the ceiling to the ground floor and died as a result of his injuries. Castille claims Reece's fall was the result of an "unsafe and dangerous ceiling" which the defendants knew about or should have known existed and failed to warn Reece.

Castille seeks monetary relief of more than $1 million, interest and all other just relief. She is represented by Joseph Onwuteaka of the Law Office of Joseph Onwuteaka PC in Houston.
