Woman claims surgeon's negligence caused her to placed in medically-induced coma

RICHMOND — A woman who had be placed in a medically-induced coma for ten days and suffered injury to her colon and bladder is claiming the negligence of Methodist Sugar Land Hospital and one of its surgeons. 

Jalene Kambhu filed a complaint Feb. 24 in the Fort Bend County District Court against Duc Le, M.D., and Houston Methodist Sugar Land Hospital alleging negligence. 

Kambhu underwent surgery to remove an ovarian cyst and scar tissue performed by Le on Feb. 28, 2018. She alleges that during the surgery, Le damaged her colon and bladder. Kambhu claims the damage caused her to undergo a colon resection, bladder surgery, the placement of a ostomy bag, sepsis and was placed in a medically-induced coma and on life support for ten days. 

Kambhu seeks monetary relief between $200,000 and $1 million,  interest and all other just relief. She is represented by Chad Matthews of Matthews & Forester in League City.
